Nikos Bikakis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering in the Hellenic Mediterranean University and a Research Associate at the ATHENA Research Center, Greece. Before that, he was a data engineer at several international companies, a postdoctoral researcher at the Athens University of Economics & Business, the University of Ioannina, and the ATHENA Research Center. He holds a Diploma in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Technical University of Crete and PhD in Computer Science from the National Technical University of Athens.

Nikos Bikakis has published one book ["Linked Data Visualization: Techniques, Tools & Big Data", Springer, 2020] and more than 30 international papers. He has more than 1300 citations and h-index 19 (Google Scholar, June 2024). He has received two Best Paper Awards at international conferences. He co-organized the first seven International Workshops on Big Data Visual Exploration & Analytics (BigVis 2018-2024). He has served as Guest Editor for several journal’s special issues related to Big Data visualization and analytics, and PC member for various top-tier international journals and conferences, e.g., WWW, SIGMOD, EDBT [Senior PC], ADBIS [Senior PC], TKDE, VLDBJ.
