Abstract.
The scope of this thesis is the development of an augmented reality application for mobile phones, which is able to present geoblogging content. More particularily, the application is based on the Android platform. Augmented reality (ΑR) is a term used for describing a live (direct or indirect) view of the physical real-world augmented by digital data, such as pictures, which are created by a computer, hense creating a mixted reality. The term geoblogging is used to describe a blog which uses data with geospatial metadata. A simple example of a geoblogging platform is a site with images overlayed on a map. Geocrowd (www.geocrowd.org) is a platform developped by IMIS which uses geoblogging for spatiotemporal storytelling. In other words, Geocrowd tells the story of a trip by using the content collected during the trip. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is the development of an augmented reality application which consumes Geocrowd's geoblogging content. This application could become a prototype for future travel agents.
