He is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Crete and senior researcher at the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA) of Paris. He studied Electrical engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, July 1988, he received his DEA in computer science from the University PARIS VI, June 1992 and his Ph.D. from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers (CNAM) of Paris, France, October 1996. He has supervised 40 Master students, 3 Ph.D. students and one post-doc fellow. He has published over 150 scientific articles in international conferences, workshops and journals, and his research work has received in total 5591 αναφορές according to Google Scholar with an h-index 38. He has chaired or served on program committees of numerous conferences, workshops while he has acted as PC member, reviewer or invited editor of numerous journals. He has finally served several scientific committees of Higher Education and Research organizations.
