Served as Dean of the School of Rural & Surveying Engineering of NTUA, Vice President of the Hellenic Cadastral Agency KTIMATOLOGIO SA, Chair of ISPRS Working Group II/6 - System Integration and Interoperability, and Director of the NTUA Cartography Laboratory. Currently, Director of the NTUA Geoinformatics Graduate Programme, Vice-president of the NTUA senate committee on post-graduate studies, and Council Member of AGILE Association. Series editors-member in Dissertations in Geographic Information Science (IOS Press), and in the editorial board of the ISPRS International Journal of Geoinformation. Head of OntoGEO - GIScience Research Group. Adjunct researcher of the Information Management Systems Institute (IMSI-ATHENA RIC). Research interests: theoretical issues in GIScience, knowledge representation, geospatial ontologies, semantic interoperability, spatio-temporal modelling, concept mapping, and theoretical cartography. Co-author of “Theories of Geographic Concepts – Ontological Approaches to Semantic Integration” book by CRC Press T&F, and over 120 publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings.
