Dr. Alexandros Efentakis received his Diploma in Physics from the University of Athens and his MSc in Information Systems from the Hellenic Open University. In January 2015, we got his PhD from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, under the supervision of Prof. Yannis Vassiliou. His employment records include working as an IT instructor in various educational facilities from 2000 until today and working as a laboratory fellow (Informatics II, Data Structures) in the Department of Informatics, Technological Educational Institute of Lamia from 2004 to 2005. From 2006 to 2010 he worked as a Research and Development Engineer for Research Academic Computer Technology Institute (RA-CTI) in various EU projects (Track and Trade, CITER, TALOS) and during 2011-2012 he has also worked as a research fellow for the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. Since 2012, he is a researcher at the Information Management Systems Institute of the Research Center "Athena", working on various EU funded projects (SimpleFleet, TMGuide, Geostream) as a senior engineer and technical manager. His current research interests include: geographic information systems, spatiotemporal databases, shortest-path algorithms on road and large-scale networks and web information retrieval.
